About the NPHC Chicago
The
NPHC Chicago
is the Chicago chapter of the
National Pan-Hellenic Council, a
collaborative organization of the 9 major Black Greek Lettered
Fraternities & Sororities. It is a Graduate council and is the largest in
the NPHC's North Central Region, with representatives from over 40 chapters in
the Chicagoland area.
Vision Statement
The National Pan-Hellenic Council of Chicago, Inc maximizes the collective local resources of the affiliate organizations of the National Pan-Hellenic
Council, Inc. to be an advocate for community-based issues, a resource to unify the community, and a professional networking base for all NPHC affiliate
organization members in the Chicago area.
Mission Statement
Community being the central focus of the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Chicago, Inc, we promote programs and initiatives to improve the African-
American conditions from an academic, economic, health, social and civic perspective. Through partnerships with other community-based organizations, as well as
those relationships established among member-chapters, the NPHC-C encourages member chapters to be leaders in the community through service, education, brotherhood and sisterhood.
The 2007 Goals of the NPHC-C are as follows:
- Increase active percentage of all known chapters in the Chicago Area
- Increase visibility and involvement of NPHC-C among external community ("non-greek"; professional, community-based, health and academic organizations)
- Increase number of students transitioning from junior college to 4-year institutions
- Foster an environment that engages chapter presidents, educates their delegations, and informs the general membership of the affiliate NPHC organizations
- Provide professional and/or personal development opportunities for NPHC-C membership
The NPHC
Chicago meets on the first Sunday of each month, except July and August,
at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 5700 South Prairie Avenue at 3:00 p.m.
